About Us

Welcome to Renovating My Old House, a place where real‑world home renovation experience meets practical, honest advice from a first time home buyer and our journey in learning how to maintain and improve our home.

We created this blog to document the journey of renovating an older home, one project at a time. What started as a simple attempt to fix a few things around the house quickly grew into a passion for sharing with others our lessons learned so it does not have to be repeated by others, while attempting to minimizing the countless trips to Home Depot and Lowe's every weekend.

I’m not a professional contractor at all! We're just a homeowner who believes in learning by doing, embracing challenges, and celebrating the small victories that come with transforming an aging home into something beautiful, functional, and personal. Every project featured here is something we’ve done myself: the mistakes, the fixes and the lessons learned.

What you'll find here - or at least our goal is:

  • DIY guides for common (and not‑so‑common) renovation tasks
  • Before‑and‑after transformations that show realistic progress
  • Budget‑friendly ideas for repairing and upgrading old homes
  • Product recommendations based on real use, not sponsorships
  • Stories, tips, and reflections from ongoing renovation adventures

Whether you're renovating an older home, dreaming about one, or just love seeing unique transformations, we're glad you’re here. We hope is that this blog gives you inspiration, clarity, and confidence as you tackle your own home projects.

Thanks for following along on this journey, let’s keep building something great, one project at a time.
